When we proposed to Patry Alvarez to join the #Mixioneros team she did not hesitate for a second. Quickly she put on her hat and gathered all the ingredients that were necessary to make her particular #SpanishGintonic. The Habanera cocktail bartender presents “Amanecer en la Playa”, a refreshing cocktail that transports you to the warm lands of Huelva.
Recipe:
- 6cl of Rives Special Gin.
- 2cl of grapefruit, lemon and lime jam.
- Original Tonic.
- 3 leaves of basil.
Why did you choose to be a cocktail barman ?
It’s a nice way to continue my professional career in the hospitality industry, taking advantage of my creativity, a face to my imagination and my passion for cooking. If we add to that the satisfaction that provokes seeing a customer’s smile with a drink made by you … is the complete equation!
How was your beginning in this world? Do you remember your first cocktail ?
I always tried to innovate, to put a personal touch to the drinks that made, and to investigate on what served to give a good attention. After almost 10 years of bar I began to form and to engage in this world. The more than 400 mojitos that I made each day of the weekend in a nice place in my land (Huelva) pushed me to see what else the world of cocktails could offer me. I have a certain love-hate relationship with the beach version of this famous cocktail.
An advice to prepare the best #SpanishGinTonic, where do you think the key is?
Do not forget the distilled protagonist and get the most out of him accentuating his qualities. No overload of flavors. Sometimes, less is more.
